The Witten Institute for Family Business welcomes top-class scientists at Witten/Herdecke University
On the 04th of July 2012 at 6 pm. the institute welcomes Prof. Frank Hoy, Director of the Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester, USA.
Frank Hoy is Director of Collaborative for Entrepreneurship & Innovation and Paul R. Beswick Professor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship School of Business at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), Worcester, Massachusetts, USA. Professor Hoy’s research interests focus broadly on Entrepreneurship, Family Business and Franchising.
Under the title „Entrepreneurship in Family Business“ the Professor talks about how entrepreneurial activities – the search for and the discovery of opportunities and their profitable use – are developed and passed on in family businesses. Mainly, this involves the question how a family business supports and encourages entrepreneurial activities and entrepreneurial thinking. But the lecture will also cover the other side of this topic: How does a family business discourage those attempts and represses entrepreneurial needs of the business family? The detailed reflection of this phenomenon helps to gain insights in how a family business can support and benefit from entrepreneurial activities between generations and family members.
