Professor von Schlippe is graduated psychologist (Diplom-Psychologe, Hamburg of University, 1976), certified psychological psychotherapist, family therapist and family psychologist. He received his doctorate in 1986 and was promoted to professor in “Psychotherapy and Clinical Psychology” (habilitation, 2001) at the Osnabrueck of University.

He started his career as head of the psychiatric unit for children and adolescents in two different clinics. From 1981 to 2005 he worked as lecturer and researcher at the University Osnabrueck in the department “Psychotherapy and Clinical Psychology”. From 2003 to 2004 he was deputy professor for “Clinical Psychology” at the University Jena. Since 1986 he also worked as teaching therapist and supervisor at the Institut für Familientherapie Weinheim e.V. From 1999 to 2005 he was chairman of the Systemische Gesellschaft [systemic association] in Berlin. Since 2005 he holds as renowned expert for family psychology the Chair for Leadership and Dynamics in Family Business at the Witten Institute for Family Business (WIFU) at Witten/Herdecke University.
