Wie entstehen Konflikte?

Using key errors in perception and interpretation – such as the personalisation of factual issues, hostile attributions or a sense of injustice – it demonstrates how conflicts arise and gradually escalate. Particular attention is paid to the close intertwining of factual and emotional levels within entrepreneurial families, for example in matters of succession, dividend payments or career decisions within the family.

Finally, this issue examines the consequences of unresolved conflicts for families and businesses. At the business level, it describes decision-making deadlocks, financial risks and reputational damage, whilst at the family level, there is a risk of losing transgenerational cohesion. The content of this issue is based on the Practical Guide to Conflicts and Conflict Dynamics in Entrepreneurial Families by Arist von Schlippe and Tom Rüsen (2020) and applies its academic findings to the practical management of family businesses in a concise manner.
