We further analyse the succession process on basis of the 10 phases WIFU succession model developed from research on family businesses in German-speaking countries. First findings suggest that the succession process in Japan is similar for many phases but differs for the expectation about which of the children will take over the family and the business and how the phasing out of the senior generation takes place.
