Dr. Sigrun Caspary has been a Senior Researcher in the WIFU’s Japan project since 2019. The project team deals with the longevity of Japanese family businesses and their family constitutions / house rules. After a short stay at a Japanese bank in Frankfurt, she joined the Witten/Herdecke University in 1997 at the Institute for Comparative Cultural Research (Japan Department). Research topics include the Japanese economy, supplier relationships, networks in international comparison and the post-growth economy. She studied Japanese studies with economics and political science at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn and received her doctorate on industrial policy in the Japanese aviation industry in 1996 (Prof. Kreiner, egregia). For this purpose, she spent four years with two scholarships at Hitotubashi University (Mombusho Fellowship) and at the Institute for International Economic Studies (IIES) in Tokyo.
