Dr Sigrun C. Caspary is associated with the chair of Organisation and Development of Business Families and has been a senior researcher for the WIFU’s Japan project since 2019. The project team deals with the longevity of Japanese family businesses and their family constitutions/house rules. After a short stay at a Japanese bank in Frankfurt, she joined Witten/Herdecke University in 1997 at the Institute for Comparative Cultural Research (Japan Department), where the research topics include the Japanese economy, supplier relationships, networks in international comparison and the post-growth economy. Dr. Caspary majored in Japanese studies, economics and political science at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. and received her doctorate on industrial policy in the Japanese aviation industry in 1996 (under Prof. Kreiner, egregia). For the latter, she spent four years at Hitotubashi University (Mombusho Fellowship) and the Institute for International Economic Studies (IIES) in Tokyo on two scholarships.
