Julius Velz has been a scholarship holder of the WIFU Foundation and focuses his research on foundation-owned firms. Prof. Dr. Marcel Hülsbeck, holder of the WIFU endowed chair for management of family businesses, is in charge of his cumulative doctoral project. During his bachelor’s degree in philosophy, politics and economics at the Witten/Herdecke University, Julius Velz got to know the WIFU and worked at the chair for general business administration and family entrepreneurship. At the end of his studies he organized the 21st congress for family businesses together with fellow students. He then studied Management (M.Sc.) at the Solvay School of the Free University of Brussels and graduated with distinction.
In addition, Julius Velz gained international experience, especially in the Republic of China, where he completed a semester abroad at Sun-yat-sen University in Guangzhou and previously completed a one-year voluntary service in Xi’an. He has already gained practical knowledge as an intern at the Federal Foreign Office and as a freelancer in the Society for International Cooperation.
