Prof. Dr. Jörn Hendrich Block
Visiting Professor at the Research and Teaching Department for Management of Family Businesses
Prof. Dr Jörn Hendrich Block has been a visiting professor at the Witten Institute for Family Business since October 2019. Dr Block publishes regularly in national and international business and economics magazines. In research and teaching, Dr Block deals with topics from the areas of entrepreneurship, innovation, family businesses, medium-sized companies and corporate governance. Dr Block is the vice president of the Foundation for Start-Up Research (FGF), the leading and largest scientific association for entrepreneurship, innovation and medium-sized companies in the D/A/CH area. Dr Block is also a member of the Round Table for SMEs in the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, and he is active as a founder and advisory board member in the start-up scene.
From 1999 to 2005, he studied business administration at the HU Berlin and the Université Libre de Bruxelles, and in 2009, he completed his doctorate at the Technical University of Munich on the topic ‘Innovation in Family Businesses’. He has been the chairholder of Corporate Management since 2012, and he has directed the Research Center for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises at the University of Trier since 2016.
