Markus Plate, born in Bremen in 1975, completed his Abitur and voluntary community service then studied psychology at the Philipps University of Marburg and Osnabrück University. While studying, he organised and held seminars on communication, personal change, systems theory and epistemology. He also worked in the fields of statistical methodology and market research. He trained as an NLP practitioner in 2003. He qualified with a degree in psychology and gained a rating of ‘very good’. He was a research assistant at the Department of Leadership and Dynamics in Family Businesses (Professor Dr Arist von Schlippe) from 2005 to 2015. His doctoral thesis was on ‘Familiness in Family Businesses’. Markus Plate has been an assistant professor at Jönköping International Business School in Sweden since August 2015.
